Lincoln County, NC is located Northwest of Uptown Charlotte. The county was formed in 1779 from the eastern part of Tryon County. It was named after Benjamin Lincoln a general in the American Revolutionary War. Lincoln County’s history runs deep. It is one of the older counties in the state. The town of Lincolnton was laid out with a central courthouse and grid system lining its downtown streets. The county was rich in farming and other manufacturing activities such as, grist mills, saw mills, paper mills, ironworks which helped fuel its expansive growth over the years. To date, Lincoln county’s population continues to grow in both its residential & commercial sectors and is expanding in the throughout the area.
