South Carolina Property TaxIn South Carolina the residential property taxes are assessed or appraised by each county based on an appraised value and then multiplied by an assessment ratio ( 4% for owner occupied, 6% for non-owner occupied residents ) and then each county applies a millage rate to the assessed value to calculate the property tax due. The millage rate is equivalent to the tax per $1,000 of assessed value.
